8/12/16: Problems with NFS file locking being investigated

Update 12/23/16:  The vendor has a solution to the problem.  We will be updating the Isilon system during the January centerwide downtime on Tuesday, January 17, 2017

Update: 8/23/16 - the investigation into the NFS file locking problem continues.  We have confirmed that the problem occurred with the latest update to the Isilon storage.  We are working with the vendor to isolate what at CCR would be causing it.  We apologize for the inconvenience.

Users using SVN repositories or databases such as MySQL or SQLite will receiving "database locked" errors until this is resolved.

Abaqus users can move their files to /gpfs/scratch and launch jobs from there to work around the problem until there is a proper resolution.  Please do remember that files in /gpfs/scratch are automatically deleted after 3 weeks so when your job completes, please move your files back to your home or project directory.

Original notice:

We are aware of problems with NFS file locking on the Isilon storage after the update was applied on Tuesday.  The vendor's engineers have been working with our storage area administrator to determine what is causing the problem and a find resolution.  At this time, any software that requires file locking will not work.  We apologize for this inconvenience and are working as quickly as possible to restore services.
