We’ve had a great response so far to our newly created workshops! We hope you and your group members are able to take advantage of them over the summer break. Below is the most recent list of workshops and times as well as our plans for the June downtime.
Workshops offered this summer:
All workshops are held in Bell 250 from 12-1pm. Users should have an active CCR account. Register by emailing icds-course@buffalo.edu with the name of the workshop and date you’d like to attend. Space is limited so register early!
Introduction to the CCR cluster: June 21, July 12, August 16
Job Submissions Strategies: June 28
Software Installation Best Practices: July 26
Using the ColdFront Allocation Management System for Faculty and Group Managers: August 9
On Tuesday, June 25th CCR clusters will be unavailable from 7am to approximately 5pm for maintenance. In addition to the standard reboots of all cluster nodes, users will notice two changes:
1. The python/anaconda module will be changed from the Anaconda Python 2.7 distribution 4.3.1 to the most recent release. Currently, that is Anaconda Python 2.7 distribution 2019.3. Henceforth, the python/anaconda module will point to the most recent version of Anaconda Python 2.7 installed on the cluster. If you need to use Anaconda Python 4.3.1 then load the python/anaconda-4.3.1 module.
2. Singularity, an open source container platform optimized for HPC workloads, will be installed. Users will now be able to run Docker and Singularity containers as well was containers available in the NVIDIA GPU cloud registry. More details about Singularity can be found on their website: https://www.sylabs.io/
July maintenance downtime reminder: ALL CCR services will be offline July 23-24 for system maintenance.
