The current instance of the GDW will be archived on a semi-annual basis. This will occur when the data sets stored in the GDW are re-annotated. This typically occurs during the months of June and December.
Archived GDW instances will be use the following naming conventions:
YYYY-MM-DD_euca_id (Date and Eucalyptus snapshot ID)
The GDW team will keep four (4) instances of the GDW active in the Lake Effect Cloud environment at CCR
- One will be the most current public GDW version
- The remaining instances will be the last three (3) most recent versions of the GDW. These instances will be accessible by using a specific IP address.
Instances of the GDW, including the associated VCF files, older than those listed above will be indexed and archived onto the GPFS and will be effectively “turned off”.
- Upon user request, older archived instances of the GDW and relevant associated file, can be turned back on.
These archived instances will be stored for an additional three (3) years. After this time, archived instances and associated data untouched will be permanently deleted.
Upon notification to GDW admins, instances of the GDW and relevant data used in publications will remain active indefinitely. These instances will be accessible by using a specific IP address.
Archived instances of the GDW which are turned back on upon user request, will remain active for an additional two (2) years. At this time, these instances and data will be turned off again and archived. These archived instances and data will be stored for an additional three (3) years on the GPFS. After this time, archived instances and associated data untouched will be permanently deleted.
