When users login to one of the CCR front end login nodes using vortex.ccr.buffalo.edu they are logged into one of a pool of login servers.  The majority of CCR users make use of the UB-HPC cluster so the slurm commands run on those servers default to using the ub-hpc cluster.  If you make use of the Faculty cluster more, you can change your default Slurm cluster.  You can run this on the command line, in which case it will only last until you log out, or you can set it in your .bashrc file so that it is set every time you login.

Temporary:

Run this in the terminal window to make the faculty cluster your default:

export SLURM_CONF=/util/software/config/slurm/faculty/slurm.conf

Permanent - persists from login to login:

Add this to your .bashrc file found in your home directory to make the faculty cluster your default:

export SLURM_CONF=/util/software/config/slurm/faculty/slurm.conf

As a reminder, making these changes does not mean you have access to run jobs on these clusters.  Your Slurm account needs to be setup correctly in order to run jobs on these private clusters.  Please see this article for in on how how to determine what you have access to.
