Usage Notes


To show the software versions:   module avail lsdyna

Loading the module will set the path and any necessary variables:    module load lsdyna/version



Additional Information


  • The LS-DYNA graphical interface (lsprepost) benefits from using the CCR's remote visualization node, but can sometimes fail to load on the viz nodes.  See the remote visualization KB article for more information
  • Many LS-DYNA examples are available for download from the vendor's website.
  • LS-DYNA manuals are also available from the vendor's website.
  • On March 6, 2015, COMSOL and UB CCR hosted a computer modeling workshop focusing on COMSOL and other commercial engineering solvers. Single Node (Shared Memory) Parallelism


LS-DYNA jobs can be launched in unattended "batch" mode using single node shared memory parallelism. An example SLURM script is available on the CCR front-end at:

Checkpoint and Restart of LS-DYNA Jobs


LS-DYNA jobs can be restarted in the event that a computation runs longer than the requested CCR job time. An example LS-DYNA model and corresponding checkpoint/restart SLURM scripts are available on the CCR front-end at:

Multiple Node (Distributed Memory) Parallelism


Using MPPDYNA, LS-DYNA jobs can also be launched in unattended "batch" mode using multiple node distributed memory parallelism. An example SLURM script is available on the CCR front-end at:    /util/academic/slurm-scripts/slurm-mppdyna
